Boxing day

I always find those graves the most impressive.
Guys that left home and gave everything,
 including their name.

In the forrest near Holten, you'll find the beautifully situated Canadian War Cemetary. When the second world war was coming to an end in Europe, only the Netherlands and Germany had not fallen to the Allies. It was largely the Canadian 2nd Corps that liberated The Netherlands and then advanced into northern Germany.
After the end of hostilities, the Holten community donated these grounds to the Canadians. The Canadian army brought the remains of all their fallen comrades, from those campaigns, here together.

Each year, at Christmas eve, pupils from the local schools place a burning candle at each of the graves. All other days, the cemetary offers the opportunity to pay your respect and contemplate.
