Big Dig Delft (part 36)

A new station

 Waarmee je bijna vergeet dat Delft ook een nieuw (ondergronds) station heeft. Over de buitenkant zijn de meningen verdeeld, ik vind het bijvoorbeeld spuuglelijk, maar over de hal is iedereen het eens. Die is wonderschoon.
Bouw, van het door Mecanoo getekende gebouw, begon in 2013, na een uiterst schimmig verlopen aanbestedingsprocedure rondom het ontwerp. Na volksraadpleging viel de keuze op twee andere architecten, maar vele rechtszaken later viel de keus in 2007 op Mecanoo. Alles bij mekaar genomen hebben die best een mooi resultaat afgeleverd.

Almost forgetting that Delft has a new (underground) station too. One can argue about the exterior, personally I think it's just plain ugly, about the hall all are unanimous. Absolutely gorgeous.
Construction of this, by Mecanoo designed, building started in 2013 after a curious tender procedure around the architects. An initial poll proclaimed two other architects the winners, but many lawsuits and court sessions later, Mecanoo was awarded the contract in 2007. All things considered, they did a good job.
